What Are the Uni IGPs in 2025?

It's university application season again, a period brimming with anticipation, excitement, and perhaps a touch of anxiety. It can sometimes feel like a game of chance and numbers as you navigate the options against your A-level grades and consider your future path.

To help you gain a clearer perspective and make informed decisions, here’s a comprehensive rundown of the indicative grade profiles (IGP) for major universities in Singapore. Understanding these IGPs can provide valuable insights into the academic expectations for various courses and help you gauge your standing as you embark on this exciting new chapter.

What is the Indicative Grade Profile (IGP)?

The indicative grade profile (IGP) for a university course provides a general indication of the academic performance of students admitted to that course in the previous year's intake. It’s a rough guide to help you assess your competitiveness and make informed decisions about your university applications.

The grade profiles typically refer to the grades achieved in your three and one content-based subjects. For each course, universities usually present the representative grade profiles of the 10th and 90th percentiles of students who were offered places. For example, if the 90th percentile IGP for a course is AAA/B, it means that 10% of the students admitted to that course had grades of AAA/B or better.

Grade C is generally assumed for both General Paper (GP) and Project Work (PW) when determining these grade profiles. It’s also important to note that, unlike JC cut-off points, the IGP is not a score calculation method. Universities consider various factors in their admissions decisions, including your co-curricular activities, personal essays, and interview performance. Therefore, while grades are undoubtedly important, they are not the sole determinant of your success in securing a university place.
