Mr Benjamin Lo
English Language and General Paper Teaching Specialist

A diligent and deeply reflective educator, Mr Benjamin holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature with Honours, alongside a minor in Creative Writing. For him, the study of English is never merely instrumental. It is not simply about securing a grade. It is about cultivating a powerful medium of creative and critical self-expression through which students learn to interpret, question and shape the world around them.

This conviction anchors his teaching philosophy. Grounded in a rigorous understanding of language mechanics and stylistic precision, Mr Benjamin trains students to wield English with clarity, economy and persuasion. In his classrooms, students encounter detailed and animated modelling of strategies, close textual analysis, and systematic grammar instruction designed to build both technical accuracy and rhetorical strength. Every lesson is intentional, structured and intellectually demanding, yet accessible.

Complementing his academic foundation is a Master’s degree in Education and extensive teaching experience across diverse ability levels. Mr Benjamin draws upon both theory and practice to cultivate strong student motivation and authentic rapport. He fosters a classroom culture where questions are welcomed, assumptions are examined and intellectual risk-taking is encouraged. Students are challenged not only to improve their writing, but to develop independence of thought and confidence in their own voice.

Beyond the classroom, Mr Benjamin remains actively engaged in improvisational theatre. This creative pursuit sharpens his spontaneity, responsiveness and sense of audience, qualities that translate directly into dynamic and engaging lessons. On quieter days, he reads widely and takes long exploratory walks, observing people, language and ideas in motion. These reflections frequently find their way back into his teaching, enriching lessons with vivid illustrations and real-world relevance.

At the heart of Mr Benjamin’s approach lies a simple but powerful belief. Education is not confined to textbooks or examinations. Everything and anything around us can be transformed into insight, if one learns to observe carefully and think deeply.
